DUBUQUE, Iowa – Benedictine Women's Basketball earned the regular-season sweep over Clarke University on Saturday fueled by a strong second-quarter effort on Saturday afternoon.
Leading by 6 points heading into the second quarter, Benedictine's lead dropped to a possession inside the first 16 seconds after Clarke hit a 3-pointer. That proved to be the only field goal for the Pride as the Ravens went on a 26-3 run over the remainder of the quarter to take control of the game en route to an 82-56 win.
The Pride scored the final 6 points of the first quarter to cut down their deficit heading into the second quarter. That run continued into the second quarter before Benedictine took fire offensively. By the midpoint of the quarter, the Ravens mounted a 14-0 run – their second of the first half.
Clarke bounced back with a solid third quarter matching their first-half total from the floor with 6 field goals as the Ravens outscored the Pride by one point.
Benedictine led by 24 points or more the entire fourth quarter, pulling ahead by as much as 34 on a 3-pointer from Kennedy Nicholson before they earned the 26-point lead.
Nicholson finished with 22 points as five Ravens reached double figures in scoring. Lauryn Dubbert scored 11 while Jennifer Jacobs, Riley Rottinghaus, and Nicole Storck added 10 points each.
The Ravens return home for a pair of games next week, hosting Central Methodist University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and No. 14 MNU on Saturday, Jan. 25.
