Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball splits pair of games at Tabor Classic

HILLSBORO – Benedictine Women's Basketball traveled to Tabor College for a pair of games hosted by the Bluejays on Friday and Saturday.

After beating Bethany (Kan.) on Friday 83-79 in overtime, Tabor handed Benedictine its first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon 57-47.

Friday afternoon, Bethany hit a last-second shot to force overtime. The Ravens outscored the Swedes 13-8 in overtime to earn the win.

The Ravens hit 38.5 percent from the field floor and converted on 26 of 29 at the free throw line, finishing the game going 11 of 11 at the charity stripe in overtime.

Riley Bruggeman led the Ravens with 35 points, hitting 15 of 18 at the free throw line. Her scoring effort was the fourth-most in program history while her 15 made free throws set a new program single-game record.

In total, four Ravens scored in double figures. Oen Deters added 14 points while Addie Kane and Hattie Gros finished with 11 points each.

In the loss to Tabor, the Ravens only went to the free throw line 10 times, hitting 7 of 10 while shooting 32.1 percent from the floor with 6 3-pointers.

Kane led the Ravens with 15 points with 7 rebounds while Deters finished with 11 points. 

The Ravens are off until Friday and Saturday when they host the annual Benedictine Classic as they welcome Southwestern Christian and (20) Briar Cliff University. 

The Classic tips off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday with Missouri Valley taking on Southwestern Christian. That game will be followed  by a special recognition of the 2025 Heart Women's Basketball Tournament Champions with Benedictine scheduled to take on Briar Cliff at 7;30 p.m.

Saturday's games are at 12 and 2 p.m. with the Ravens taking on Southwestern Christian at 2 p.m.
