WACO, TEXAS — Two members of the Benedictine Football team were among the list of honorees announced by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) as part of the annual NAIA All-America Team on Thursday. Additionally, the NAIA announced an additional third team list, which featured three more Ravens. 

Isaiah Hasten was named a first-team defensive back, while Tanner Zimmerman was named a second-team tight end. Joining Hasten and Zimmerman on the NAIA list are third team selections Jackson Dooley (QB), Xavier Ugorji (RB) and Rashad Beckham (OL).

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves. The AFCA NAIA All-America Team includes an offensive, defensive and special teams group of first- and second-team selections. 

Headed into the NAIA FCS Semifinals, Hasten is ranked second in the NAIA in interceptions with 8 and needs just one more interceptions to tie the Ravens single-season program record. Zimmerman is second on the team in receiving yards with 777 on 38 receptions with 10 touchdowns and a 20.5 yards per catch average. Dooley has passed for 3,049 yards with 35 touchdowns while Ugorji is the Ravens leading rushing with 1,310 yards with 16 touchdowns while averaging 100.7 yards per game. Beckham anchors an offensive line that has allowed just 4 sacks all season with a 476.6 yards per game average.

Benedictine travels to Des Moines, Iowa, for a Noon kickoff on Saturday against No. 1 seed – and defending NAIA National Champions – Grand View University. Saturday's game is a rematch of a Sept. 6 meeting where the Vikings earned a 27-24 win over the Ravens.
