Women's Basketball earned its fourth-straight win on Wednesday night.
The (RV) Ravens defeated the Park University Pirates, 96-60, in the Heart of America Game of the Week in Atchison.
The Ravens took control of the game with a big third quarter. The Ravens outscored the Pirates 30-14 to turn a 12-point halftime lead into a 28-point lead heading into the final quarter. The third period was capped off by a tremendous play from Josie Weishaar, who made a reverse layup while being fouled, then sank the free frow to convert the 3-point play.
Not done there, Weishaar opened the fourth quarter with three-straight 3-pointers to grow the Ravens lead to 37 points. The Ravens went on to close out the blowout, 36-point win.
The Ravens took a 12-point lead into halftime thanks to a strong second quarter. The Pirates led 17-16 after 10 minutes of play but the Ravens outscored the visitors 28-15 in the second period to enter the break up 44-32.
The Ravens were led by Jennifer Jacobs and Kennedy Nicholson in the fast-paced opening 20 minutes – both players scored 8 points. Makayla Baughman was a key part of the Ravens keeping pace in the first quarter, sinking two 3-pointers for 6 points.
Weishaar scored a team-high 21 points, followed by Lauryn Dubbert with 14, Nicholson with 11 and Jacobs with 10 points.
The Ravens finished with an outstanding 30 assists on 38 field goals. Weishaar had a team high 9 assists, Dubbert added 7 and Jacobs pitched in 3 assists. Riley Bruggeman came off the bench to score 9 points, grab 5 rebounds and dish out 4 assists. Nicole Storck added 8 points and 4 rebounds.
The Ravens (19-4, 16-3 Heart) remain at home and will try to avenge one of their losses when they take on Culver-Stockton College at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.
