WICHITA – Benedictine Softball closed out their non-conference schedule on Sunday with a trip to Friends University.
After earning a 6-5 win in game one in 8 innings, the Falcons earned the sweep of the No. 20-ranked Ravens as they took game two 5-4.
The Falcons got a game-winning double in the bottom of the eighth that scored two runs to beat the Ravens in the opener. Bailey Selvage suffered the loss as she went the distance inside the circle. She finished with 4 strikeouts while allowing 6 runs off 11 hits in the loss.
At the plate, Chloe Strickland helped anchor the Ravens offensively. She went 2 for 3 with a double, home runs and 2 RBI. Alena Velilla added a home run and 2 RBI while Amanda Waymire recorded an RBI.
In game two, the Ravens scored all of their runs in the top of the third before the Falcons rallied to score 3 unanswered over the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to earn the win.
Lily SinghDhillon suffered the loss inside the circle. She threw 5.1 innings before giving way to Lacey Foster. SinghDhillon finished with 3 strikeouts while allowing 3 earned runs off 7 hits.
All of Benedictine's runs in game two came on a grand slam from Rhiannon Martin as Chloe Strickland added a double to round out the Ravens offensive efforts.
The Ravens return home to open up their Heart schedule on Saturday, hosting a doubleheader with Mount Mercy University at 1 p.m.
