CANTON, Mo. – Benedictine Softball started off their first weekend conference road trip on Friday with a sweep over Culver-Stockton College.
The Ravens rallied for a 5-2 win in the opener and took the late-game momentum into game two, where they earned a run-rule shortened win, 9-0.
Rhiannon Martin connected on a 3-run home run to start the seventh inning rally for the Ravens before Alma Garcia added an insurance run with an RBI single.
Lily SinghDhillon earned the win inside the circle for the Ravens in the opener. After giving up 2 runs in the bottom of the second, she shut down the Wildcats to finish with 5 strikeouts over 7 innings while scattering 4 hits.
The Ravens collected 10 hits in the opener. Alena Veililla and Kaelyn Fisher joined Garcia with 2 hits, while Chloe Strickland, Renay Myers, and Megan Forsman joined Martin with 1 hit. Myers also added an RBI as the Ravens finished with 5 total.
The Ravens opened up game two with 4 runs in the top of the first and that was plenty of run support for Bailey Selvage inside the circle.
Fisher doubled to score 2 before Garcia hit a 2-run home run to give the Ravens a 4-0 lead after the first half inning. A Forsman double in the third scored 3, and Velilla finished out the offensive efforts with a 2-run home run in the fifth to seal the run-rule win.
Selvage no-hit the Wildcats over 5 innings, finishing the game with 8 strikeouts and she faced 16 total batters.
Megan White added a double at the plate to give the Ravens a total of 5 extra-base hits out of their 11 total hits in game two.
Benedictine remains on the road Saturday, traveling to Oskaloosa, Iowa, for an 11 a.m. doubleheader with William Penn University.
