LEAVENWORTH – Benedictine Volleyball stepped back out of Heart play on Tuesday night, taking the University of St. Mary Spires on the road.
Benedictine battled to earn a 25-19 win in the third set to avoid a sweep, but couldn't pull the match even falling in the fourth set to drop the match to the Spires 3-1.
The Ravens hit .292 and .278 over the second and third set, but were limited to an attack percentage below .100 in the first and fourth sets. Two Ravens hit double figures in kills, led by Lucy Drexel with 13 and Barbara Terra with 12. JoJo Vander Woude finished with 7 to round out the top hitters for the Ravens.
Wren VanCleave anchored the attack, finishing with 38 assists.
Defensively, Kelly DeMeulenaere anchored the back line with 17 digs, followed by Cibeles Bothwell with 16 and VanCleave with 14. Rayleen Gladden finished with two block assists, while Drexel added 1 solo block and 1 block assist.
The Ravens return home Friday to host a Heart match with (RV) Park University at 7 p.m., followed by an 11 a.m. non-con match on Saturday with Ottawa University.
