DUBUQUE, Iowa – Benedictine Football earned another convincing Heart cross-division win on Saturday, beating Clarke University 48-10.
Saturday's win came with a record-breaking performance from quarterback Jackson Dooley. During the second quarter, Dooley connected on a pass with Tanner Zimmerman that pushed him to the program's top spot on the career passing list. The previous record had stood since 2010 and was held by former quarterback Ryan Kelly as 7,661 yards. Dooley finished Saturday's win with 422 yards to push career mark to 7,961 yards.
Clarke opened the game with possession, but that possession was ended by an interception from Isaiah Hasten. Benedictine's first touchdown came on a Dooley pass to Joseph Lagafuaina for 13 yards. That possession led to the Ravens scoring on three straight possessions to lead 21-0 headed into the second quarter.
Xavier Ugorgi scored the second touchdown on a 9-yard rush, followed by a 39-yard pass from Dooley to Titan Osburn.
The Ravens answered a 40-yard field goal from the Pride with a pair of field goals of their own. Christian Klobe connected on field goals of 27 and 22 yards to put Benedictine up 27-3. Dooley connected on his second touchdown pass to Osburn, this time of 38 yards to send the Ravens into halftime leading 34-3.
Benedictine added two more touchdowns in the third quarter on Dooley passes to Tanner Zimmerman for 82 yards and Hasten for 35 yards.
Dooley finished with 17 completions on 28 attempts with 5 touchdowns and an interception. Ugorji led the Ravens with 62 yards rushing on 9 carries. Zimmerman finished with 155 yards on 3 receptions to lead the receivers as Osburn added 95 yards on 3 catches with 2 touchdowns. Lebron Jackson finished with 91 yards on 5 catches while 8 total Ravens caught passes in the win.
Ben Gilliland and Peyton Jobe led the defense with 6 tackles each as the Ravens finished with 9 tackles for a loss of 22 yards. Joseph Abrams, Abram Phillips, Matthew Etzel each were credited with a sack. Blake Casteel finished with 5 tackles, including 2 tackles for a loss.
Benedictine returns home on Saturday, hosting Peru State College for Family Weekend. Peru State beat Central Methodist on Saturday, 64-43. The Ravens and Bobcats have not played each other since the 2023 season when Benedictine earned a 62-28 win over Peru State in Atchison.
