(3) Football throttles MNU on Senior Day

Raven Football picked up a dominant win at home Saturday afternoon.

The No. 3 Ravens defeated the (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene University Pioneers, 59-17, on Senior Day.

The blowout got started in the opening quarter as Dylan Witherspoon and Isaiah Hasten each had interceptions to set up the Ravens offense in MNU territory. Hasten's pick was his fifth of the year, which ties Scott Miller for the most all time in Ravens history at 17 interceptions.

The Ravens notched three touchdowns in the first quarter. The first was a Patrick Heitert-to-Christian Pitts 63-yard touchdown. Following the two interceptions, Xiomar Hernandez had a 15-yard touchdown run, then Heitert had a 1-yard rushing score to put the Ravens up 21-0 after 15 minutes of action.

The Ravens defense forced a turnover on downs early in the second quarter and on the first play of the Ravens drive, Heitert connect with Joseph Lagafuaina for a 38-yard score.

The fireworks weren't over, either. The Ravens dipped into their bag of tricks as Heitert found Titan Osburn on a flea-flicker for an 80-yard touchdown pass.

A Pioneers fumble led to another Ravens touchdown, with Heitert cashing in with another rushing score. That gave the Ravens a 42-0 lead at halftime.

The Ravens kept their momentum going in the second half when Hernandez took the first play of the third quarter 75 yards for a touchdown. Cooper Hajek added his own rushing score later in the third quarter to put the Ravens up 56-0, and they held a 56-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Christian Klobe added a 35-yard field goal in the fourth quarter as the Ravens closed out the 42-point win.

Heitert finished with 243 yards through the air on just 14 attempts, tossing three touchdowns and adding another pair of scores on the ground. Hernandez had 112 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns, and Osburn had 91 yards receiving and a score.

Sam Torline had 6 tackles, Kolbe Sexton added 5 tackles, and Joseph Abrams, Christian McAfee, Kyle Jordan, Justin De La Rosa, and Matthew Etzel all recorded sacks.

The Ravens (7-1, 3-0 Heart South) will take on William Woods University at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 on Homecoming.
