Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

(25) Volleyball extends winning streak to 15

Ravens Volleyball picked up another win Friday evening.

The No. 25 Ravens defeated the Grand View University Vikings, 3-1, extending their winning streak.

The Ravens attackers spread the wealth in a 25-18 opening-set win.

Barbara Terra led the way with 5 kills, but she was followed closely behind by Stefania Scomazzon and Bridget O'Sullivan, who each had 4 kills.

The Ravens took an 11-5 lead early in the set and maintained that comfortable lead for the remainder of the opener to take a 1-0 advantage in the match.

The second set was more of a battle for the Ravens, but they came away with a 25-22 win to go up 2-0 in the match.

The Vikings jumped out to a 6-2 lead to force a Ravens timeout early in the set, but the timeout didn't slow down Grand View's momentum. The Vikings pushed their lead to 12-4 before the Ravens were able to find an answer. That answer came largely in the form of Terra, who had 11 kills in the set as the Ravens went on a 17-6 run to take a 3-point lead.

Grand View answered with 3-straight points to level the score at 21-21, but the Ravens closed out the set for the 3-point win.

Grand View picked up a third-set win, 25-22. The teams were tight throughout the set, but the Vikings were able to pick up the 3-point win and cut the Ravens match advantage to 2-1.

The Ravens closed things out with a 25-17 win in the fourth set. They jumped out to a 15-8 lead and maintained that margin for the majority of the match.

Terra finished with 28 kills, a new program record for kills in a four-set match. That passes Fleur Wesselink, who had 27 kills against Missouri Valley College in 2019.

Scomazzon added 15 kills for the Ravens, plus 3 block assists and 2 aces, which makes 69 aces on the season. Each ace Scomazzon adds the remainder of the season will extend her program season record as she passed Haley Cahill's previous record of 59 (set in 2024) during the Ravens road match at Culver-Stockton College last week.

JoJo Vander Woude had 8 kills and 2 block assists, Wren VanCleave had 48 assists, 2 aces and 17 digs, Ava Penuel had 16 digs, and Lainee Mustain had 14 digs. Allison Kuebelbeck was a force at the net, picking up 4 block assists and a solo block, and O'Sullivan finished with 6 kills.

The Ravens (19-2, 10-0 Heart) have now won 15-straight matches and will look to push that to 16 when they take on William Penn University at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at home.
