Football announces addition of Michael Rose-Ivey to coaching staff

Benedictine Football head coach Joel Osborn has announced the addition of Michael Rose-Ivey to the Ravens coaching staff. Coach Rose-Ivey officially joined the staff earlier this week, and will serve as the program's new defensive line coach.

"I am excited to join the Benedictine College football program, Ravens Athletics, and the entire Benedictine community," Coach Rose-Ivy said. "It is truly an honor to be part of such a special place that believes in the holistic development of student-athletes, grounded in faith and committed to excellence in every area of life.

"I look forward to pouring into our players on and off the field and building a defensive line that reflects the toughness, discipline, and character that define Benedictine football and the community that supports it."

As a student-athlete, Rose-Ivey won a state championship in 2011 playing for Rockhurst High School where he was also named a 2012 Under Armor High School All-American. He moved on to play collegiate football for the Nebraska from 2012-2016 where he was a linebacker for the Huskers "Blackshirts." He holds the Nebraska record for tackles as a freshman with 66. In 2013, he was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team and the Big Ten All-Freshmen team.

"We are fired up to have Coach Rose-Ivey join our coaching staff and his family to join our Raven Family," Coach Osborn said. "I have known him for a long time and our staff has gotten to know him from recruiting in Kansas City and attending combines that he has worked. He has coached and trained numerous players that we have recruited as well. He has same values that we do at Benedictine, is a family man, is an excellent teacher and does an excellent job developing players."

During his time as a coach, Coach Rose-Ivy has stops at Liberty High School, William Chrisman High School, North Kansas City High School, Lincoln College Prep and Basehor-Linwood High School. He served as the head coach for William Chrisman from 2021-2025 before joining Liberty as a defensive line/edge coach in 2025. In addition to his experience in the Kansas City area as a high school coach, he has also trained Super Bowl champions Tershawn Wharton (defensive line) and Demone Harris (defensive end) along with numerous Power 4 defensive lineman.

He received his Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Nebraska. He and his wife Tania, have one son, Tyrin.
