SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – (RV) Benedictine Softball its first four games of the season on Saturday and Sunday competing in a tournament inside the ASB Dome.
Saturday, Benedictine split with No. 17 Northwestern (IA) and No. 11 Midland before splitting again on Sunday with Morningside and Mount Marty.
Against Northwestern on Saturday, the Red Raiders plated home two runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn the win, 2-1.
Bailey Selvage threw a complete game in the loss, finishing with 11 strikeouts to move past the 400 strikeout plateau in her time at Benedictine. She scattered 5 hits over 6 innings while giving up 2 earned runs.
At the plate, the Ravens scored their lone run off 5 hits. Amanda Waymire recorded the RBI, scoring Kayleigh Small in the top of the sixth.
The Ravens knocked off the Warriors in game two, scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning for a 3-2 win. Megan Forsman singled in Ryan Cooper to give the Ravens their first win of the season.
Lily SignhDhillon earned the start inside the circle, throwing 6 innings, allowing 2 runs off 3 hits before Lacey Foster threw the final 2 innings to earn the win,
Reagan Enright joined Forsman with 2 hits, adding a double while Alena Velilla added a triple.
Morningside needed eight innings to earn the win in game three on Sunday, 4-3.
Foster suffered the loss in relief of Selvage. Selvage threw 3 innings, giving up 2 runs off 4 hits with 3 strikeouts before Foster threw the next 4 innings, giving up 1 earned run off 6 hits in the loss.
Forsman and Velilla each recorded a double in the loss with Forsman adding an RBI.
In the weekend finale, the Ravens rallied for a 4-0 deficit to score 5 unanswered over the bottom of the second, third and fifth innings en route to the win.
Kaelyn Conrad earned the win in relief of SinghDhillon, SinghDhillon allowed 3 earned runs off 4 hits over 2 innings before Conrad held the Lancers scoreless over 3.1 innings to bridge the gap back to Selvage in relief. Selvage finished the game off, striking out 3 over 1.2 innings to earn the save.
Rhiannon Martin recorded the Ravens first home run of the season while Velilla and Enright added a double each. Velilla and Mattilyn Peters were credited with an RBI each.
Benedictine hosts a pair of doubleheaders on Ravens Field this weekend, hosting Friends University at Noon on Saturday and Concordia (Neb.) at Noon on Sunday.
