SHAWNEE – Benedictine Softball went 4-0 on Friday and Saturday as they earned wins over York (Neb.), Waldorf (Iowa), Doane (Neb.) and Columbia (Mo.) at the TopGun NAIA Collegiate Classic.
The Ravens earned a pair of run-rule wins over York, 12-4, and Waldorf, 12-1, on Friday. They followed that up with an 8-3 win over Doane on Saturday and 2-0 over Columbia to wrap up the weekend.
Benedictine 12, York 4 - 6 innings
The Ravens recorded 14 hits in the win over the Panthers. Six of the Ravens hits were for extra bases as Rhiannon Martin hit a home run while Alena Velilla, Kaleigh Small, Amanda Waymire, Reagan Enright and Emily Johnston each hitting a double. Enright added 4 RBI while Small and Martin finished with 2 RBI each. Vellila, Ashley Rindom and Johnson added an RBI each.
Bailey Selvage earned the win inside the circle. She went 4 innings, giving up 1 run off 3 hits with 7 strikeouts before Lilee Keller and Lacey Foster finished off the game.
Benedictie 12, Waldorf 1 - 5 innings
The Ravens finished with 15 hits while holding the Warriors to just 5 in their second run-rule win over the Classic.
Eight of the ravens 15 hits were for extra bases in support of Kaelyn Conrad inside the circle. Conrad gave up 1 run off 5 hits over 5 innings with 4 strikeouts to earn the win.
Martin went 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 5 RBI. She hit 2 doubles with a home run in the win. Amanda Waymire went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, a double and home run. Velilla, Small, and Megan White added a double each.
Benedictine 8, Doane 3
The Ravens opened the second day of the Classic with a 8-3 win over Doane, scoring all 8 runs over the first 3 innings.
Foster earned the win inside the circle in relief of Lily SinghDhillon. SinghDhillon when the first 3.1 innings, giving up 3 earned run-off 4 hits before Foster finished off the final 3.2 innings holding Doane to 2 hits.
Martin finished with a home run and 2 RBI, going 1 for 4 at the plate. Lauren Gaitley added a double and RBI to round out the Ravens game at the plate.
Benedictine 2, Columbia 0
The Ravens earned a shutout in their fourth game of the Classic as Selvage held the Cougars to 2 hits over 7 innings to earn the win.
Selvage finished with 10 strikeouts.
Gaitley and Ryan Cooper each recorded a double at the plate with Megan Forsman driving in 2.
Benedictine remains on the road on March 6-7 playing four games over the two days in the Friends Invitational before playing Friends in a doubleheader in Wichita on March 8.
