DUBUQUE, Iowa – Benedictine Men's Lacrosse wrapped up a three-game week on Saturday with a 19-1 win over Clarke University to open up Heart of America Athletic Conference play.
The Ravens led 10-0 at the half and added 9 more goals while giving up a third-quarter goal to the Pride to close the week out 3-0.
The Ravens outshot the Pride 61-48, finishing with 36 shots on goal.
Charley McGlinn got the scoring started for the Ravens in the first quarter, netting Benedictine's first goal with 13:34 remaining in the quarter. Benedictine scored 14 straight through the remainder of the first half and the first 12 minutes of the third quarter before the Pride scored their lone goal.
Mason Eberle led the Ravens attack with 4 goals. Jonah Salem added 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) while John Paul Torgersen matched Eberle with 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists). Brayden Hope, Joey Calabria, Trent Harder and Ian Madden finished with 2 goals each while McGlinn was joined by Keegan Lindsey and Harry Milligan with 1 goal each.
Mateo Herbertz matched Salem for the team lead with 3 assists while Hope, Lindsey, Calabria, Harder and Madden added 1 assist each.
Jack Northrup finished the game with 5 caused turnovers to pass the 100 career caused turnover mark. McGlinn finished with 3 caused turnovers to round out the defensive effort as Benedictine finished with 18 caused turnovers. Max Thomason finished 11 of 17 on face-offs as Benedictine won 15 of 24 for the game.
CJ Besuzzi finished with 12 saves as he went the distance in goal for the Ravens to earn the win.
Benedictine returns home on March 14 hosting a Heart game with Ottawa University at 7 p.m. on Legacy Field.
