Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse stopped in Heart Tournament Championship

Men's Lacrosse fell just short in Saturday's Heart Conference Tournament Championship Game.

The No. 1 seed Ravens lost to the No. 2 seed William Penn University Statesmen, 15-10.

The teams were tight through the first half, but the Statesmen outscored the Ravens 7-2 in the second half to earn the 5-goal win. Although the Ravens won the Heart Regular Season Championship, the Statesmen earn the conference's automatic entry into the NAIA National Tournament.

Joey Calabria scored 3 goals to lead the Ravens. John Paul Torgersen had 2 goals, and the Ravens got 1 goal from each of Ian Madden, Mason Eberle, Jonah Salem, Trent Harder and Keegan Lindsay. CJ Besuzzi made 9 saves in goal for the Ravens.
The first quarter was especially close as the teams were tied 6-6 after 15 minutes of action. Both teams had 9 shots on goal, 3 saves and 9 turnovers.

A lower-scoring second quarter didn't separate the teams at all, as the Ravens and Statesmen entered halftime tied, 8-8. Each team had 15 turnovers in the first half.

The Ravens held an advantage in face offs, winning 11 to Penn's 6 in the first half, then had a and advantage of 4 at the final whistle.

The Ravens finished the game with 32 turnovers to WPU's 29. Jack Northrup led the Ravens with 4 caused turnovers.

The Ravens close out the season with a record of 12-2.
