Men's Lacrosse fell just short in Saturday's Heart Conference Tournament Championship Game.
The No. 1 seed Ravens lost to the No. 2 seed William Penn University Statesmen, 15-10.
The teams were tight through the first half, but the Statesmen outscored the Ravens 7-2 in the second half to earn the 5-goal win. Although the Ravens won the Heart Regular Season Championship, the Statesmen earn the conference's automatic entry into the NAIA National Tournament.
Joey Calabria scored 3 goals to lead the Ravens.
John Paul Torgersen had 2 goals, and the Ravens got 1 goal from each of
Ian Madden,
Mason Eberle,
Jonah Salem,
Trent Harder and
Keegan Lindsay.
CJ Besuzzi made 9 saves in goal for the Ravens.
The first quarter was especially close as the teams were tied 6-6 after 15 minutes of action. Both teams had 9 shots on goal, 3 saves and 9 turnovers.
A lower-scoring second quarter didn't separate the teams at all, as the Ravens and Statesmen entered halftime tied, 8-8. Each team had 15 turnovers in the first half.
The Ravens held an advantage in face offs, winning 11 to Penn's 6 in the first half, then had a and advantage of 4 at the final whistle.
The Ravens finished the game with 32 turnovers to WPU's 29.
