Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer takes down No. 16 Ottawa

Men's Soccer picked up a win over a ranked opponent Saturday afternoon.

The Ravens defeated the No. 16 Ottawa University Braves, 2-1, in Atchison. The Braves had defeated No. 3 MidAmerica Nazarene University just two days prior.

The Ravens scored the opening goal 10 minutes into the contest. Kody Argaez had a shot deflected toward the top of the box and Ahoy Victore was there to launch a shot past the keeper to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead.

Braden Yows doubled the Ravens lead with just a minute left before halftime. Yows received a corner kick from Juan Piratova to the top of the 18-yard box and slipped a low shot through the box into the corner of the net to make it 2-0 Ravens at the half.

Noah Reuscher made 4 saves in the opening 45 minutes to keep the Braves off the board.

The Braves were able to cut the Ravens lead in half with just under 25 minutes to play, trimming the Ravens lead to 2-1.

Ottawa created some chances to level the score as the clock ticked down, but the Ravens were up to the task and hung onto their lead for the win.

Reuscher finished the match with 5 saves.

The Ravens were whistled for 10 fouls and the Braves had 15. The teams also had several players deal with cramping issues in the hot weather, which made the second half particularly choppy. It was the Ravens that handled the situation best and came away with the victory.

Next up for the Ravens (2-1) is a 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 home match against Friends University.
