Women's Soccer wins big in home opener

Women's Soccer won its home opener on Saturday afternoon.

The Ravens dominated the Ottawa University Braves, 6-0, in their first game on Legacy Field in 2026.

The Ravens wasted no time taking the lead, scoring 42 seconds into the match. Jenna Wilken played a ball forward and Payton Vogelbacher raced past the last Ottawa defender to track down the ball and calmly slotted it past the keeper for a 1-0 lead.

The second goal came just minutes later and it was a reverse of the first. This time Vogelbacher passed forward to Wilken who was able to beat the Braves defender to make it 2-0 Ravens with more than 41 minutes remaining in the opening half.

Patsy O'Brien made it 3-0 in favor of the Ravens when she headed in a cross from Wilken with 31 minutes to play before half. The Ravens carried that 3-goal advantage into the halftime break.

Vogelbacher added to the Ravens lead with 20 minutes to play after getting a pass forward from Anna DiCarlo. Just 18 seconds passed before the Ravens made it 5-0 as Brynn Carroll scored on an assist from Rowan Yows.

After 2 more minutes passed, Mollie Finley scored to make it 6-0 for the Ravens on an assist from Carroll, the final goal of the game.

Vogelbacher had 2 goals and an assist and Wilken had 1 goal to go along with 2 assists to lead the Ravens attack.

Emma Smith earned a clean sheet in goal for the Ravens, saving all 3 shots she faced.

The Ravens (3-0) will remain home for their next contest when they take on Friends University at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 on Legacy Field.
