OVERLAND PARK – Kolby Sexton earned (3) Benedictine Football's first Heart of America Athletic Conference weekly honors on Monday.

Sexton was named the Heart Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Musco Lighting.

In the Ravens 35-28 loss at (7) Morningside University, Sexton recorded a total of 14 tackles that included 5 solo and 8 assisted tackles. He also recorded 1.5 tackles for a loss of during the game.

Since the 2021 season – the first full season under head coach Joel Osborn – Sexton's total tackles against the Mustangs marks the third most behind the 17 of Jagger Blubaugh against Graceland on Sept. 9, 2023 and Blubaugh's 15 tackles in Benedictine's game against Morningside on Aug. 26 that same season.

The Ravens remain on the road Saturday, traveling to Peru State College for a 6 p.m. kickoff against the Bobcats. They make their debut inside Larry Wilcox Stadium on Sept. 12 when they host Stars & Stripes Day against William Penn University.
