OSKALOOSA, Iowa – Benedictine Men's Soccer opened up Heart of America Athletic Conference play on Saturday just like they opened the regular season – on the road against a NAIA-ranked opponent.
The (RV) Ravens picked up a 1-1 draw against the (4) Statesmen.
Benedictine took a 1-0 lead in the halftime intermission after William Penn was credited with an own goal during the 45th minute.
The Ravens sat on that lead, holding off several scoring opportunities from the Statesmen, until William Penn was able to thread a shot through the Benedictine defense during the 59th minute.
Noah Reuscher finished the match with 3 saves over 90 minutes, recording 2 in the first half and the third at the start of the 76th minute to keep the match even.
Evan Frank and Zach Pederson led the Ravens with 2 shots each with both recording 1 shot on goal.
Benedictine opens up a two-match week on Wednesday with (5) MNU. The start time for the match has been changed due to the ongoing maintenance of the lighting system at Legacy Field. The match will be now be played at 4:30 p.m.
