Benedictine Men's Soccer hosted another NAIA-ranked opponent for the third time in six home matches this season as they welcomed NAIA defensing National Champions and current No. 21 Grand View University to Legacy Field for the third straight meeting.
The Vikings scored during the 24th and 59th minutes to earn a 2-0 win over (RV) Benedictine as the two teams played through pouring rain for much of the match on Wednesday night.
It was the first time this season that Benedictine was able to host a night match after the lighting system on Legacy Field was replaced due to a lighting strike right before camp started in August.
The Ravens went toe-to-toe with the Vikings, matching possession throughout the match, the Vikings were just able to take advantage of two misplays by the Ravens that lead to their two goals.
Benedictine finished with 7 total shots, five of which came in the second half as they tried to mount a comeback.
Juan Piratova led the Ravens with 3 shots, 1 on goal while Ahoy Victore and Juan Hernandez finished with 1 shot each, both of which were on goal.
Noah Reuscher suffered the loss in goal for the Ravens, recording 4 saves over 90 minutes in goal.
The Ravens return to the road on Saturday, traveling to St. Louis to take on Missouri Baptist University. The men will actually start off the doubleheader with the Spartans, playing their match at 4 p.m.
