OVERLAND PARK – For the second straight week, a member of the Benedictine Football program has been recognized by the Heart of America Athletic Conference as one of three Player Of the Week selections, presented by Musco Lighting.
Isaiah Hasten has been named the Heart Football Special Teams Player of the Week. Hasten recorded a 97-yard return after Benedictine blocked Peru State's lone PAT on Saturday. Hasten scooped up the blocked kick and returned it for two points to put the Ravens up 9-6. That play sparked 33 unanswered points from the Ravens as they earned a 47-6 win over the Bobcats to move to 1-1 on the year.
Hasten added 2 tackles and a pass breakup defensively in the win.
The win by the Ravens sets up the Heart-UEN Clash of the Week on Saturday as Benedictine makes its home debut inside Larry Wilcox Stadium with a 1 p.m. game against No. 13 William Penn University. The Statesmen, out of the Heart North, are 2-0 so far this season with wins over Graceland University and Missouri Valley College.
Hasten joins linebacker Kolbe Sexton, who was named the Heart Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Ravens week zero game at (7) Morningside University.
