Brad Hines

Brad Hines enters his eighth season on the Benedictine College football coaching staff in 2026, currently serving as the Linebackers Coach and Defensive Run Game Coordinator. A former Raven player and student coach, Hines has established himself as a premier defensive mind in the NAIA, developing a reputation for building dominant, high-pressure defensive fronts.

Coach Hines’ commitment to the Ravens program spans over a decade. He first arrived at Benedictine College in 2015 as a student-athlete, playing tight end for the Ravens. Following his playing career, he transitioned seamlessly into the coaching ranks as a student assistant, earning his full-time appointment to the coaching staff in 2019.

Hines initially led the Ravens' outside linebackers for two seasons (2019–2020). Prior to the 2021 season, he transitioned to the defensive line, where he orchestrated one of the most feared pass-rushing units in the country.

Recognizing his strategic impact on the trenches, Head Coach Joel Osborn elevated Hines to Defensive Run Game Coordinator ahead of the 2025 season. Following that campaign, he transitioned back to his coaching roots to take over the linebackers unit, bringing his extensive front-seven expertise to the heart of the Ravens' defense.

During his four-year tenure guiding the defensive line, Benedictine became a national standard for disruptive defensive play. Under his watch, the Ravens consistently terrorized opposing quarterbacks, finishing near the top of the national leader boards year after year:

  • 2024: 42 total sacks (Ranked 2nd in the NAIA)
  • 2023: 40 regular-season sacks (Tied for 1st in the NAIA)
  • 2022: 41 sacks (Finished Top 5 in the NAIA)
Throughout his seven seasons on staff, Coach Hines has mentored and developed a long list of standout talent, including 12 Heart South All-Conference selections, three All-Americans, and a Conference Player of the Year.
  • Heart South Co-MVP & Defensive Player of the Year: Brett Shepardson (2020)
  • AFCA-NAIA All-Americans: Brett Shepardson (2020), Heath Baker (2023), Isaac Anderson (2024)
  • Heart South All-Conference Linemen & Linebackers:
