Zyon Mathis enters his third year of coaching overall and his second season as a Graduate Assistant for Benedictine College, continuing a remarkably successful career with the Raven football program. During his combined time as both a player and a coach, Mathis has contributed to an era of sustained excellence at Benedictine, with every year resulting in a winning season and four consecutive Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships.
His transition into coaching began in 2024, when he served as a student assistant coach for the Running Backs and Tight Ends, following a successful playing career. He stepped into his current role as a Graduate Assistant for the Ravens in the spring of 2025, where he continues to work directly with the running backs and build upon the program's championship culture.
As a student-athlete, Mathis took the field for Benedictine from 2021 to 2023, anchoring his deep understanding of the Ravens' work ethic, standard of excellence, and offensive schemes.
