Paul Hunt

Paul Hunt was officially appointed the Raven Head Softball Coach in June of 2017. The 2024-25 season will be Hunt’s 8th season as head coach for the Ravens.  Hunt’s overall record at Benedictine College is 195-146 in 7 seasons. Due to Covid, the Ravens only played 15 games in the 2020 season. During his time at Benedictine College, Coach Hunt has had 2 NAIA All-Americans, 26 Heart of America All-Conference Players, including 1 Newcomer of the Year and 3 Gold Glove Winners. He has also led the Lady Ravens to 6 Heart of America Conference Tournaments.

Hunt led the Lady Ravens to a historic 2024 season. During the year, the Ravens set a program wins record of 40, as they went 40-16 overall. They finished 3rd in the Heart of America and were Conference Tournament Runners-up. They qualified for an Opening Round for the first time in Program History where they recorded the program's first National Tournament win in Program History as well. The Ravens were ranked as high as 20 in the country. 

Hunt’s 2020-2021 Lady Ravens’ squad set a school record for 34 wins in a single season. During the 2021 season, the Ravens were also ranked 1st in the NAIA for team doubles with 112. In the 2019 season, the squad was ranked 3rd in the NAIA for team doubles with 113.

Off the field, Hunt has been an active NFCA member since 2017. He has served as the Heart of America Conference Rater since 2021. Coach Hunt has played an active role in the NAIA Softball Coaches Association Executive Committee. He currently serves as the past president for the 2024-25 season. Before his current role, he served as the President for the 2023-2024 season. Coach Hunt was the Vice President in 2022-23, 2nd to the Vice President in 2021-22, and the Secretary from 2019-2021.

Hunt came to Benedictine from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa where he spent three years as an assistant coach while also serving two years as an Assistant Athletic Director. During the time there, the softball program had a record of 121-62.

Before joining the Iowa Central coaching staff, he spent four years at Saint Edmond High School, in Fort Dodge. He earned several conference titles, was a two-time Coach of the Year selection, and guided the program to two Iowa State tournament appearances finishing as high as third place.

A graduate of Presentation College, Coach Hunt has a bachelor’s degree in communications and business. Hunt played baseball at the collegiate level at Dana College in 2005 and finished his playing career in 2009 at Presentation College.  

Paul and his wife Kasey currently reside in Atchison with their five children Hallie, Anna, Henry, Gloria, and Natalie.
