OVERLAND PARK – After splitting their regular-season doubleheader, the fifth-seeded Raven softball team took on fourth-seeded Baker University on Thursday afternoon at the Blue Valley Recreation Complex in the HAAC Championship Series opening round.
Baker (21-22) scored four runs in the first three innings and then held off Benedictine (16-22) as the Ravens scored three runs in the sixth and seventh to earn a 5-3 win.
The Ravens committed seven errors defensively behind Katelyn Nill, who earned the start inside the circle.
Nill struck out six while scattered six hits over six innings of work while giving up just one earned run in the loss.
At the plate, the Ravens picked up six hits, all singles, with Megan Eldredge and Lindsey Proffitt driving in two of the three runs off their hits. Jenna Fitzpatrick added a sacrifice fly to drive in the Ravens remaining run.
Benedictine returns to action at 11 a.m. Friday against Graceland University in an elimination game. Benedictine swept the regular-season series over Graceland.
