Softball sweeps road doubleheader over Peru State College

PERU, Neb. – The Raven Softball picked up their fourth doubleheader sweep in conference play on Friday taking two games on the road over Peru State College.

Benedictine (23-14, 10-6 Heart) took game one 5-2 over Peru State (10-30, 2-14 Heart) and then wrapped up the sweep with a 10-9 win over the Bobcats in game two.

Katie Ricklefs earned the start inside the circle in both games on Friday. She went all 14 innings giving up no earned runs off five hits in game one and then picked up the game two win giving up seven earned runs off nine hits as the help lead the Ravens to the sweep.

In game one, the Ravens trailed 2-1 headed into the fifth inning the scored three runs en route to four unanswered runs to earn the win.

Jenna Fitzpatrick set the table for the Ravens from her leadoff spot in the lineup. She went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Sierra Esau added a double and two hits while Megan Eldredge finished with a triple, a double and two RBIs as she went 2 for 4.

In game two, the two teams combined for 26 hits with the difference proving to be the Ravens lone run in the seventh that extended their lead to 10-5 headed into the bottom half of the inning. Peru State scored four runs in their half of the seventh but couldn't pull even as Benedictine held on for the win.

Fitzpatrick finished 3 for 4 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI while Eldredge finished 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Three more Ravens tallied a two-hit game at the plate. Esau went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Courtney Parker finished 2 for 3 with an RBI while Kellie Bachkora rounded out the Ravens top hitters at 2 for 4 with a double and RBI.

The Ravens are scheduled to wrap up the regular season on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Lamoni, Iowa, against Graceland University.
