Softball run rules Peru State twice for Heart sweep

The Raven Softball team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon to move back to .500 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play as they earned a pair of run-rule wins over Peru State College

Benedictine (13-13, 3-3 Heart) earned a 10-1 win in the opener before ending things early with Peru State (7-23, 2-8 Heart) with a 14-6 win.

Katie Ricklefs earned the start in game one and held the Bobcats to just two hits over six innings of work. She finished with six strikeouts with the one run she allowed being unearned.

Benedictine belted out 14 hits at the plate, two which were for extra bases off the bat of Courtney Parker. Parker finished the game with a 3-for-4 efforts with two runs and four RBIs as she also connected on a three-run walk off home run to finish off the run rule.

Sierra Esau, Alexis Richardson, Brooke Lee and Kellie Bachkora all finished with two hits each with Richardson, Lindsey Profitt, Lee and Bachkora adding RBIs.

In game two, Nikki McNeil earned the start inside the circle for the Ravens. She gave up four earned runs off 10 hits before giving way to Ricklefs during the fourth inning. Ricklefs held the Bobcats to just one hit over two and one-third innings of work to earn her second win of the day as McNeil did not pitch the minimum required to earn the win.

The Ravens added 18 more hits in the game two win with eight hits for extra bases.

Sarah Methvin went 3 for 4 with two doubles while Lee added two doubles. Bachkora, Parker, Richardson and McNeil each recorded a double while McNeil helped her own cause with a 2-for-2 effort with three RBIs. Richardson and Lee each finished with three RBIs to round out the Ravens day a the plate.

Benedictie wraps up the four-game weekend with a non-con doubleheader at 1 p.m. Sunday against York College back out at the Asher Sports Complex.
