(15) Men's Basketball closes out semester with win over (25) Graceland

LAMONI, Iowa – The No. 15-ranked Raven Men's Basketball team closed out the first semester on Saturday with a five-point win over No. 25 Graceland University.

Benedictine used a 40-point second half to overcome a four-point halftime deficit as they earned their 10th straight win with a 65-60 win over Graceland. The win was also their third over a NAIA Div. I Top 25 opponent this season.

Thomas O'Connor knocked in a 3-pointer inside the first two minutes of the game to give Benedictine its first lead before the Yellowjackets answered to outscore the Ravens 13-4 over the next 11 minutes to build an eight-point lead. Benedictine countered with a series of 3-pointers that not only erased their deficit but pushed them ahead by five before a pair of 3-pointers from the Yellowjackets pushed Graceland up by four at the break.

The second half played through five ties and three lead changes before Benedictine took the lead for good halfway through the second half on back-to-back 3-pointers from O'Connor and Colby Nickels.

Benedictine pushed ahead by as much as 10 before Graceland was able to pull within four in the final seconds of the game. That was all the closer the Yellowjackets would get as the Ravens earned the five-point win.

Benedictine finished the game with 11 3-pointers as they connected on 30.6 percent from beyond the arc while also shooting 41.4 percent from the field. The limited Graceland to just 24.2 percent from beyond the arc and 36.5 percent from the floor as they scored 13 points off 12 Graceland turnovers.

Four players finished in double figures for the Ravens, led by the game-high 20 points from O'Connor. Nickels finished with 16 points while Eric Krus and Adam Kutney added 13 and 10 respectively.

With the win, the Ravens are now off for the holiday break. They return to action on Jan. 2 when they travel to Baldwin City to take on Baker University. They don't return to Dugan Jones Court until Jan. 5 when they host Culver-Stockton College.
