(12) Men's Basketball heats up Collins Center en route to 15-point win over Baker

BALDWIN CITY – The No. 12-ranked Raven Men's Basketball team connected on 58 percent from the floor with 11 3-pointers on Wednesday night as they opened up 2019 with a 15-point win over Baker University.

Benedictine (12-2, 8-0 Heart) hit 65.2 percent from the floor and 64.3 percent from beyond the arc in the second half as they pulled away from Baker (6-8, 3-6 Heart) to earn a 73-58 win over the Wildcats.

After Baker built a four point lead inside the first four minutes of the game, Benedictine answered with a 19-4 run that not only erased their early deficit but pushed them to their first double-digit lead, 21-10, with seven minutes left to play in the first half. The Wildcats closed the Ravens lead down to six points three times over the remainder of the first half but Benedictine was able to answer every time to push their lead back to eight, 32-24, at the half.

Benedictine limited Baker to just nine first-half field goals while knocking in 14 of their own.

Nine of the Ravens 11 3-pointers came in the second half and it was a series of those 3-pointers from Thomas O'Connor and Adam Kutney that sparked the Ravens to a 20-point advantage inside the first six minutes of the second half.

The Ravens largest lead of the game came second before the midway point of the second half when a 3-pointer from Eric Krus pushed Benedictine in front by 26, 57-31.

Kutney led three Ravens in double figures with a game-high 20 points. O'Connor finished with 19 points as he connected on 5 of 10 from beyond the arc while Jaiden Bristol finished with 11 points and three assists as he went 5 of 5 from the floor.

The win extends the Ravens winning streak to 11 as they return home for a 4 p.m. game on Saturday against Culver-Stockton College.
