No. 2 Women's Soccer holds Northwestern without a shot in 8-0 shutout

Not only did the No. 2-ranked Raven Women's Soccer team earn their second clean sheet of the season on Saturday night, they held Northwestern College without a shot en route to a 8-0 win over the Red Raiders.

Benedictine (2-0) scored four goals in each half en route to the shutout over Northwetern (0-2).

The first goal of the match was scoring during the 12th minute when Natalie Duque connected with Emily Ambuul. It took the Ravens seven minutes to extend their lead when Abbie Hari scored off an assist of Olivia Meyers.

Anna Romano tallied her first assist of the match on the Ravens third goal, scored by Molly Schmidt during the 23rd minute. Romano capped off the first half scoring when she scored during the 27th minute on an assist from Nicole Kelly.

Kelly and Romano connected on the first goal of the second half during the 59th minute, this time trading roles as Kelly scored her first goal of the match.

Romano scored on an unassisted goal during the 70th minute before Kelly added her final goal off an assist from Sydney Routh during the 74th minute. Kelly's offensive night wasn't over, as she assisted on the final goal of the night, returning the favor to Routh who rounded out the scoring effort during the 76th minute.

Ashley Rehagen tallied her second win of the season as she played into the 57th minute before Olivia Berry played the remainder of the match to share the shutout with Rehagen.

Benedictine remains at home for their next match. The Ravens host No. 23 Hastings College on Friday, Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
