The Raven Volleyball team returned home for the first time since the opening week of the season Tuesday night as they hosted MNU to open up a six-match home stand.
MNU (4-15, 2-3 Heart) was able to keep Benedictine (7-8, 2-3 Heart) at arm's length throughout the match in route to a 3-0 win over the Ravens, 25-23, 25-20, 25-18.
Benedictine finished the opening set with 15 kills while holding MNU to just nine, but the Ravens were held to just .047 on their attack as the Pioneers finished the first set with 10 block assists and one solo block.
It would be the block of the Pioneers that would allow them to hold off the Ravens offensive runs throughout the remainder of the match. MNU finished the match with a total of 10.5 team blocks which translates to 19 blocks assists and one solo block.
The Pioneer's defensive effort was the primary reason that the Ravens finished the match with an overall attack percentage of .092, a new season low.
Makenna Ketter and Fleur Wesselink led the Ravens with nine kills each as Ketter led the team with a .333 attack percentage. Paxton Throne anchored the Ravens attack effort with 29 assists
Defensively, the Ravens finished 55 digs led by Abby Brown with 12 and Hannah Thomazin with 11. Throne finished with three block assists while Sara Rahmanzai added two.
The home stand continues on Friday at 7 p.m. as the Ravens continue Heart play with a match against Peru State College.
