Women's Soccer earns six-goal road win over University of St. Mary

LEAVENWORTH – Paced by three goals in the fist 17 minutes of play, the No. 3-ranked Raven Women's Soccer team earned a 7-1 win over the University of St. Mary on Wednesday night on the field at Berkel Memorial Stadium.

Benedictine (3-0-1) held a 25-3 advantage in shots over St. Mary (0-2-0) en route to the six-goal win.

Olivia Meyers finished the match with five points, scoring one goal while recording three assists. She recorded her first two assists on the Ravens opening goals. Anna Romano scored the first goal of the match during the third minute off a Meyers' assist and then Molly Schmidt pushed the Ravens to a 2-0 advantage off a Meyers' assist during the 11th minute.

USM netted their only goal of the match during the 16th minute, ending the Ravens season-opening shutout streak at just over 405 minutes.

The Ravens answered during the 17th minute on a goal from Nicole Kelly off a Schmidt assist.

Benedictine took a 3-1 lead into halftime while holding a 13-1 shot advantage over USM.

The Ravens added four unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from the Spires.

Romano scored during the 46th minute off a double assist from Abbie Hair and Meyers. She and Hair assisted on a goal by Natalie Duque during the 59th minute to extend the Ravens lead to 5-1.

Meyers scored her lone goal during the 71st minute off an assist from Kelly before Sydney Routh capped off the scoring on an assist from Emily Ambuul during the 80th minute.

Ashley Rehagen and Oivia Berry split time in goal for the Ravens. Rehagen played into th 57th minute before Berry finished the match while recording the only save for the Ravens.

Benedictine returns home on Friday to host LSU-Shreveport at 7 p.m. at the BC Soccer Complex before heading back out on the road for a Saturday match. Saturday's match against William Woods University has been moved to Columbia, Mo., from Fulton, Mo., and will now be played at 4:30 p.m. at Battle High School in Columbia.
