PERU, Neb. – The Raven Women's Basketball team lead wire-to-wire on Thursday night as they used a balanced scoring effort along with a dominating performance in the paint en route to a 87-50 win over Peru State College.
Benedictine (11-6, 6-5 Heart) had 13 players in the scoring column while they outscored the Bobcats 48-12 in the paint to extend their wining streak to six straight.
The Ravens held a 10 point lead after the first quarter and extended that to 12 points by halftime. Benedictine limited Peru State to just eight first-half field goals while converting on 48.3 percent from the floor in the first half.
With the balanced scoring effort against the Bobcats, the Ravens bench finished the game outscoring Peru State. Benedictine finished the game with a 54-17 advantage off the bench as Natalie Smaron and Ali Brzozowski finished with 16 and 10 respectively. Smaron hit 7 of 10 from the floor with a pair of free throws while Brzozowski went 4 of 4 at the free throw line with three field goals.
Benedictine finished the game hitting 52.5 percent from the floor and 50 percent from beyond the arc. Their 76.2-percent effort from the charity stripe was their highest in Heart play this season and second highest overall.
The 87 points marks the second most this season for the Ravens and it is the fourth time over their current winning streak the team has scored over 80 points.
