Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

(9) Men's Basketball set shoots two season highs in win over Mount Mercy

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The (9) Raven Men's Basketball team set a new season-high from beyond the 3-point arc and from the floor on Saturday as they earned their second straight win in Heart play.

Benedictine (3-5, 2-1 Heart) connected on 49 percent from the floor while hitting 55.6 percent from beyond the arc as they earned a 76-46 win over Mount Mercy University.

After playing to a 5-5 tie nearly four minutes into the game, the Ravens went on a 10-0 run to pull away from the Mustangs. They led throughout the remainder of the first half. Mount Mercy closed within five points, but baskets from Jayden Temme and Hunter Schneider allowed the Ravens to keep the Mustangs at arm's length heading into the second half.

Benedictine never gave back the lead in the second half. Mount Mercy closed the margin to single digits five times but back-to-back 3-pointers from Colby Nickels and Temme pushed the Ravens lead back to double figures at 15 with six minutes left to play. Benedictine led by double figures for the remainder of the game.

Temme finished with a game-high 20 points connecting on four 3-pointers. Nickels finished with 14 as he anchored a Raven bench that finished with a 32-15 advantage. Jaiden Bristol added 11 points and four steals to round out the Ravens offensive efforts.

Benedictine remains on the road Tuesday as they travel to Marshall, Mo., for a 7:30 p.m. game with Missouri Valley College.
