(9) Men's Basketball takes third straight in Heart play with 75-70 win over Missouri Valley

MARSHALL, Mo. – The No. 9-ranked Raven Men's Basketball team picked up their third straight win on Tuesday night as they earned a Heart road win over Missouri Valley College.

Benedictine (4-5, 3-1 Heart) outscored Missouri Valley (3-5; 1-3 Heart) by 12 points in the second half to earn the win 75-70.

Tied at 68 with just over one minute left in the game, Jaiden Bristol connected on a 3-pointer to put the Ravens on top for good. The basket came off one of the Ravens 10 offensive rebounds and were the only points of the night for Bristol. After gaining possession again, the Ravens were fouled four straight times by the Vikings before it put the Ravens on the free-throw line. Colby Nickels and Matt Austin connected on a pair of free throws each for the Ravens to ice the game for Benedictine.

Benedictine led early but after playing through three ties, Missouri Valley was able to pull ahead by as much as nine points and took a 36-29 lead into halftime. Sparked by six straight points from Jayden Temme, the Ravens went on a 9-0 run that gave them their second lead of the game with just over 11 minutes left in the game. The final 10 minutes of the game played through three ties and four lead changes before the 3-pointer from Bristol pushed the Ravens ahead for good.

Austin finished with a game-high 30 points as he connected on six 3-pointers while Temme added 17. The Ravens finished the game with 13 3-pointers, a new season hight, off 44.8 percent. They connected on 50.9 percent from the floor, which was also a new season-high.

Benedictine remains on the road for their next Heart game on Dec. 5 as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for a 7:30 p.m. meeting with Grand View University. They return home on Dec. 7 for the annual Snow Storm game at 2 p.m. against Culver-Stockton College.
