The Raven Softball team returned to the BC Softball Field on Sunday riding an eight-game winning streak as they hosted a cross-divisional Heart doubleheader with Mount Mercy University.
The Mustangs took both games, 18-2 and 5-3, to snap the Ravens winning streak and hand Benedictine their first two losses in Heart play.
In the opener, Erin Ziebarth earned the start inside the circle for the Ravens. She went five innings and gave up 10 earned runs off eight hits in the loss.
At the plate, the Ravens were limited to just four hits. Alex Burris went 2 for 3 a double and run scored while Blair Shanks continued to swing a hot bat for the Ravens, hitting a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to extend the game for the Ravens.
In game two, Alex Gilham threw the first six and one-thirds innings. She finished with five strikeouts while holding the Mustangs to just four runs off 10 hits. Brianna Hoffman threw the final two-thirds of an inning, giving up one run as Gilham was saddled with the loss.
At the plate, Shanks recorded two hits with a double and RBI while Tiffani Ray added a hit and RBI.
The Ravens wrap up their current home stand at 1 p.m. Tuesday as they host a Heart divisional doubleheader with Evangel University.
