The Raven Softball team bounced back from their first loss in Heart play with a sweep over Evangel University on Tuesday out at the BC Softball Field.
Benedictine (14-10, 6-2 Heart) limited Evangel to a total of two runs over the doubleheader as the picked up the sweep, 2-1 and 4-1.
In game one, the Ravens rallied for two runs in the bottom fo the fourth and then backed up the pitching effort of Alex Gilham inside the circle Gilham threw a complete game with four strikeouts while holding the Crusaders to a first-inning run off six hits.
Alex Burris recorded a triple with Megan Medhus and Tiffani Ray recorded a RBI each.
In game two, Erin Ziebarth got the call inside the circle. She two held the Crusaders to just one, first-inning run en route to a complete-game effort. She finished with six strikeouts while allowing six hits.
Benedictine took the lead after their first at-bat, scoring two first-inning runs before adding two runs in the sixth.
Shanks hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to give the Ravens their lead. She went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs while Medhus added two doubles to round out the Ravens offensive efforts.
The Ravens open a 10-game Heart road swing on Saturday, traveling to Marshall, Mo., to take on Missouri Valley College.
