Softball splits with Evangel to wrap up eight-game road swing

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Raven Softball team wrapped up an eight-game road swing on Saturday with a split against Evangel University.

The Ravens dropped the opener 5-3 before earning a 4-3 win to earn the split.

Alex Gilham earned the start and threw the first three and two-thirds before Erin Ziebarth finished off the game. Ziebarth gave up three runs off five hits to suffer the loss.

Benedictine led 3-2 heading inot the seventh inning before Evangel scored three in the bottom half of the inning to earn the win.

The Ravens were limited to just four hits throughout game one with Molly Chevalier driving in the lone earned run.

In game two, Brianna Hoffman earned the start and threw five and two-thirds before Ziebarth and Gilham finished off the game. Hoffman gave up three runs off seven hits to earn the win while Gilham earned the save recording the final out of the game.

Alex Burris, Chevalier​ and Blair Shanks all recorded a double with Shanks adding a triple. The trio finished with four RBIs in the win as the Ravens finished with 10 hits. Regina Splane finished with two hits and a run scored to round out the Ravens day at the plate.

The Ravens host Grand View University at 2 p.m. Thursday in a Heart cross-divisional series as they will host four of their final six games at the BC Softball Field to close out the regular season.
