Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

(4) Women's Soccer earns fifth-straight win with shutout over Willam Penn

A second-half scoring surge sent Women's Soccer past the William Penn University Statesmen 7-0 Saturday in Atchison.

The (4) Ravens scored six goals in the final 45 minutes to turn a tight, 1-0 lead into a comfortable victory to move to 8-1 on the season and 2-0 in Heart of America play.

The second-half onslaught got started in the 56th minute when Emily Ambuul cleaned up a loose ball left by the Penn keeper Adyson Blom to give the Ravens a 2-0 lead. That goal opened the flood gates as three more goals were poured in over the next five minutes.

Maisy Louree sent a nice through ball to Nicole Kelly in the 57th minute and Kelly beat Blom to the right. Just 30 seconds later, Ambuul crossed to Sydney Routh who was able to notch the fourth Ravens goal of the game. Then, in the 60th minute, Routh crossed into the center to Kelly who chipped the keeper to give the Ravens a 5-0 lead.

The final two goals came in the 84th and 89th minute. The first was scored by Madalynn Gill on an assist by Kat Reis, then Reis headed home a wonderful free kick by Katie Black for the final punctuation mark.

The Ravens lone first-half goal came in the 37th minute of action when Ellen Budell scored thanks to an assist by Emma Strecker.

The Ravens recorded 18 shots on goal against the Statesmen, but Penn had just three shots on goal. Ashley Rehagen played the entire first half in goal for the Ravens without being forced to make a save. Olivia Berry took over in the second half, making three saves.

Next up for the Ravens is a road match at (20) Central Methodist University on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
