Women's Basketball earns 14-point road win over Graceland

LAMONI, Iowa – The Raven Women's Basketball team picked up the regular-season sweep over Graceland University on Saturday while also snapping a three-game losing streak.

Benedictine (17-11, 11-11 Heart) never trailed against Graceland en route to a 75-61 win.

The Ravens finished with three players in double figures while holding a 38-24 advantage in points in the paint.

After the game was tied at 6-6 inside the first three minutes of the game, the Ravens gradually started to pull away from the Yellowjackets. By the middle part of the second quarter, a 3-pointer from Brynn Maul gave the Ravens a double-figure lead that stood at 39-25 at the half.

Another 3-pointer, this time from Grace Brzozowski with just over six minutes remaining in the third quarter gave the Ravens their largest lead of the game at 18 points.

Benedictine finished the game shooting 46.8 percent from the field as Natalie Smaron led the team with a double-double, scoring 16 points with 11 rebounds. Rachael Baumgartner scored 12 points while Kayla Staley finished with 11.

The Ravens remain on the road on Wednesday as they travel to Olathe to take on MNU at 5:30 p.m. before returning home to host the regular-season finale with Central Methodist University at 2 p.m. Saturday.
