Baseball scores 10 in third win of the season over University of St. Mary

The Raven Baseball team earned a 10-1 win over University of St. Mary on Tuesday afternoon on Laughlin Field as the two programs squared off for the third time this season.

The Ravens earned their third win over the Spires as they recorded 12 hits en route to the win.

Ryan Cox earned the start on the hill for the Ravens. He threw the first seven innings of the game to earn the win as he held the Spires scoreless over six innings. He finished giving up one run off four hits facing 24 batters before giving way to Ben Costello and Tripp Wright who held the Spires scoreless over the final two innings of play.

Benedictine scattered three runs over the first five innings before breaking the game open with a seven-run seventh inning. Jackson Field and Michael Slaten led the Ravens with three hits each while they both added two RBI. Slaten recorded a triple while Nathan Huber added a double and RBI.

The 12 hits for the Ravens marked the seventh time in their last 10 games that Benedictine finished a game with 10 or more hits while the scored 10 or more runs for the fifth time in the last 10 games.

The Ravens remain at home for a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday as they open up Heart of America Athletic Conference play. On Saturday, they welcome Culver-Stockton College to Laughlin Field for a Noon doubleheader before taking on Clarke University at Noon on Sunday.
