Men's Lacrosse wins battle of NAIA-ranked opponents in KCAC opener

MARSHALL, Mo. – A five-goal second quarter proved to be the difference on Saturday as the (7) Raven Men's Lacrosse opened up KCAC play at (10) Missouri Valley College.

The battle of the two KCAC favorites was closely contested, but in the end, Benedictine (2-2, 1-0 KCAC) was able to earn a 10-6 win over the Vikings.

Benedictine took a 2-0 lead after the first quarter and then outscored the Vikings 5-2 in the second to lead 7-2 at the break. Each team scored a goal in the third quarter before Missouri Valley outscored Benedictine 3-2 in the fourth. The three-goal fourth quarter was not enough to make up the deficit created after the second quarter as the Ravens earned the four-goal win.

Jack Kandoth led the Ravens with six goals off 10 shots as he scored four goals alone in the second quarter. Grant Mallett-Bauerkemper added three goals while Joseph Doyle finished with one. Jacob Clipperton, Brady Guck, Sean Molyneux, Steele Moran, and Peter Girard all recorded assists in the win.

Duncan Loud earned the win in goal for the Ravens. He recorded seven saves, playing all 60 minutes for the Ravens. Conner Buckley helped anchor the defensive efforts, recording three caused turnovers as the Vikings committed 31.

The Ravens are off until March 10 when they travel to Fort Wayne, Ind., to take on (2) Indiana Institute of Technology.
