LEAVENWORTH – The (2) Raven Women's Lacrosse team set a new record for single-game goals on Wednesday night as they earned their second win of the KCAC season.
Benedictine scored 29 goals en route to a 29-2 win over University of St. Mary as they moved to 2-0 in KCAC play.
The 29-goal effort passes the previous high of 27 scored against Midland University during the 2019 season. The 27-goal win also matches the program record for margin of victory.
The Ravens scored eight straight to open the game on Wednesday, scoring all eight just over seven minutes into the game. Kacey Moore scored the Ravens 11th goal of the game, kicking in the running clock for the remainder of the game as the Ravens lead extended beyond 10 goals. By halftime, the Ravens held a 17-1 lead.
Benedictine added 12 goals with the running clock in the second half and finished the game outshooting USM 40-6 with 33 shots on goal.
Aiden McEnerney led the Ravens in scoring with six goals while Mary McEnerney added five. Anne Marie Mannella added four goals while Natalie Wechter, Kacey Moore, Rianna England, and Clare Ryan scored three goals each. Molly Muehlebach added two goals to round out the Raven scorers. Wechter led the team with five assists while Muehlebach finished with four. Moore and Ryan added three assists each with Manella recording two. Mary McEnerney and Aiden McEnerney finished with one assist each.
The Ravens controlled possession throughout the game, winning 28 of 31 draw controls as Wechter finished with 23 draw controls.
Taryn St. Louis finished with three saves while giving up two goals over 60 minutes as she earned the win
The Ravens will step our of KCAC play for their next three games. They travel to Williamsburg, Ky., for games on March 8 and 10 taking on (RV) Indiana Institute of Technology on March 8 before taking on (2) Campbellsville (Ky.) on March 10. They return home for the first time this season on March 16 to host NCAA Div. II Fort Lewis College.
