Volleyball continues Heart play with four-set win over Culver-Stockton College

CANTON, Mo. – The Raven Volleyball team improved to 2-1 on the season on Thursday night with a 3-1 win over Culver-Stockton College.

After splitting the first two sets 25-20 & 26-28, the Ravens rattled off wins of 25-13 and 25-18 to take the match over the Wildcats.

As a team, the Ravens hit .190 at the net with a match-high .225 in their second set loss. Mary Pat Taylor led the Ravens with 14 kills while Joslyn Lewis finished with 13. Haylie Dickerson added 9 while Grace Millard rounded out the top hitters with 8. Taea Kapels anchored the attack with 32 assists while Marea Wortmann added 14.

Defensively, the Ravens finished with 9 team blocks and 82 digs. Dickerson led the front line with five block assists and one solo block. Aretha Victalino added two block assists and the remaining solo block. Lewis also added four block assists to round out the defensive effort on the front line. Megan Luby led the team in digs with 29 followed by Katelyn Malick with 16 and Taylor with 11.

The Ravens return to the friendly confines of the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium tonight at 7 p.m. for their first home match of the season against Peru State College. The match will be streamed on BRSN can be viewed on the BRSN Viewer page or at portal.stretchinternet.com/ben.

Saturday's match with Graceland University has been postponed. A reschedule date has not been established.
