The (RV) Men's Basketball withstood a second-half charge from the Central Methodist University Eagles, winning 81-70 at home on Saturday.
The Ravens had a 19-point lead at one point, but the Eagles cut it to 4 points before the Ravens took back control for the double-digit win.
Nysir Scott's 3-pointer gave the Ravens a 72-65 lead with 4:48 to play. After a CMU basket, Jayden Temme knocked down a pair of free throws and the Ravens went on to win by 11.
Matt Austin scored a game-high 20 points, knocking down six 3-pointers. As a team, the Ravens converted 14-of-28 from deep. Eric Krus scored 17 and Temme finished with 11 for the Ravens. It was a special night for Jaiden Bristol, who scored 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out five assists. In the game, Bristol reached the career 1,000 points and 500 rebounds milestones.
Hot-shooting ruled the first half as each team shot the ball well, particularly from outside. The Ravens took a 48-38 lead into halftime thanks to 53.9% shooting overall and 10-of-14 from 3-point range, good for 71.4%. They finished the game shooting 44.9% from the floor and 50% from deep.
The Eagles weren't far behind, shooting 40.7% overall, but finished the game shooting 37.5% from 3-point range.
The Ravens improve to 10-3 on the season and 7-2 in Heart of America play. Next up will be a road contest at Evangel University on Wednesday, Jan. 13. The Crusaders handed the Ravens one of their league losses on Dec. 5.
