(RV) Football takes three-game winning streak into Heart South opener at CMU

FAYETTE, Mo.  – (RV) Raven Football returns from the bye week with their first Heart South game of the season as they take on Central Methodist University on Saturday at 1 p.m. Benedictine is riding a three-game winning streak since dropping back to back games and is 2-1 on the road so far this season. CMU enters the game with a split over the previous two games after winning three straight after a season-opening loss at Grand View University.

ABOUT THE SERIES: This year's meeting marks the 36th between the two programs with Benedictine holding a 32-3 series lead. Benedictine also traveled to CMU in 2020 and earned a 16-0 win over the Eagles. The Ravens have won 11 straight in the series dating back to the 2009 season when the Eagles earned a 45-26 win over the Ravens during week three in Fayette.

ABOUT BENEDICTINE: The Ravens have averaged 65 points per game over their current winning streak scoring 65 or more in all three games – their highest-scoring three-game stretch in program history. ... In their three road games so far this season, the Ravens have wins over William Penn University and Graceland University with a loss to Peru State College. ... With his 11 tackles in the Ravens 65-24 win over Culver-Stockton, linebacker Jalen James moved into a tie for second place on the Ravens all-time tackles list. He now has 373 career tackles and is tied with former Raven Curtis Coppinger who played for the Ravens from 1997-2000. ... Quarterback Garrett Kettle accounted for 400 total yards on offense in the Ravens win over Culver-Stockton, passing for 260 while rushing for 140 with a total of 5 touchdowns.

ABOUT CMU: The Eagles are averaging 29.3 points per game through their first six games of the season with a total of 334.2 yards per game. ... Quarterback Paxton DeLaurant is averaging 183.8 yards per game through the air with 13 touchdowns and a total of 1,103 yards. He also leads the Eagles in rushing at 36.3 yards per game with a total of 218 yards rushing. ... Katavious Taylor is the Eagles top receiver averaging 104 yards per game with 7 touchdowns. He is averaging 21.9 yards per reception off an average of 4.8 catches per game. ... London Chambers anchors the Eagles defense with 46 tackles in six games. He has 2.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for a loss. ... Defensively, the Eagles have forced five fumbles so far this season with five recoveries while they've recorded 6 interceptions.
