PERU, Neb. – The Peru State College Bobcats controlled time of possession on Saturday night and kept the Ravens defense on the field as a result. With limited offensive opportunities, the Ravens dropped their second straight by the final of 45-21.
When given the opportunity, the Ravens offense was able to work the ball down the field to the tune of 275 yards off 50 plays. It was the Bobcats offense that stole the show, however, racking up 390 yards off 71 plays with 25 first downs.
After the Bobcats scored the opening touchdown of the game, the Ravens responded with a 91-yard kickoff return from Tre Adger to pull the game even at 7-7. The Bobcats scored 21 straight to take a three-touchdown lead into halftime, 28-7.
Benedictine's first drive of the second half led to a 13-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Kettle to Adger and put the Ravens back within striking distance. The Bobcats answered and outscored the Ravens 17-7 over the remainder of the game to hand Benedictine its second straight loss and snapped a five-game winning streak by the Ravens over the Bobcats.
Kettle finished the game with 201 yards off 13 of 24 passes with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Austin Buteaux and Jacob Gathright led the Ravens with 58 yards receiving while Adger finished with 21 yards. Rayshon Mills finished with 39 yards off 10 carries to lead the Ravens ground attack.
Gavin Spangler led the Raven defense with 13 tackles. Joshua Morris and Spencer Whitt each added 9 while Adam Wilbers and Tyler Tierney added 8 each. Morris was also credited with an interception.
The Ravens return to O'Malley Field at Larry Wilcox Stadium on Saturday to take on Clarke University for Stars & Stripes Day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Tickets are available at www.ravenathletics.com/tickets.
