Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Baker takes down Men's Basketball

Men's Basketball couldn't find a rhythm offensively in Wednesday's contest against rival Baker University.

The Wildcats topped the Ravens 68-53, outshooting the home squad 44% to 34%.

The first half was a back-and-forth battle as neither team created separation from the other. Ahmad Louis hit a 3-pointer to put the Ravens up 14-8 early in the half, but the Wildcats responded to take a 20-19 lead with 7 minutes to play before halftime.

The visitors went into the break with a 34-32 lead, with the main difference coming at the free throw line – the Wildcats made 4-of-5 from the line while the Ravens were just 1-3.

Preston Reynolds had a strong first half, scoring 10 points and dishing out 3 assists. For Baker, Quentin Harvey was the key as he scored 14 in the opening 20 minutes.

The Wildcats took control of the game in the first 10 minutes of the second half, outscoring the Ravens 12-2 to take a 46-34 lead. Reynolds helped pull the Ravens back by snapping an extended scoreless stretch, and then he scored and was fouled, making the free throw to pull the Ravens to within 5 points, 46-41.

Baker answered, though, and the Ravens could get no closer than 5 points. The Wildcats closed out the 15-point win to drop the Ravens to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in Heart play.

Reynolds finished with 18 points and was the only Ravens player in double-figures. The Ravens struggled from the 3-point line, shooting 6-28 and making just 1-12 in the second half. Turnovers were also an issue as the Ravens had 24 in the game.

The Ravens will try to bounce back Saturday, Dec. 3 at William Penn University.
