QUINCY, Ill. – Men's Lacrosse opened their season on Wednesday on the road against NCAA Div. II Quincy University.
A scoreless second quarter proved to be the difference as the Hawks earned a 9-7 win over the Ravens.
Trailing 3-0 in the first quarter, the Ravens scored two straight from James Carson and Brady Guck to close the gap to 3-2 heading into the second quarter. By halftime, the Ravens trailed 5-2.
A four-goal third quarter pulled the Ravens back within a goal, 7-6, heading to the fourth quarter. The Hawks opened the quarter with two goals before Michael Hogan scored on a Guck assist for the final goal of the game.
Benedictine finished with a 34-30 advantage in shots. The Ravens finished with 21 shots on goal as Carson, Guck, and Hogan finished with two goals each. Joseph Doyle added a goal with Guck recording an assist.
Duncan Loud finished with 11 saves in goal for the Ravens in the loss.
The Ravens open their home schedule on Feb. 26 when they host No. 2 Indiana Tech at 3 p.m. on Legacy Field.
