OSKALOOSA, Iowa – Men's Lacrosse earned a solid win on the road on Friday as the (7) Ravens earned a 16-7 win over (RV) William Penn University in KCAC play.
The win pushed Benedictine to 4-0 in KCAC play as they enter a crucial stretch of the conference season.
Benedictine limited William Penn to 25 shots en route to the win. They finished with 41, which included a game-high 15 shots in the third quarter. The Ravens turned a one-goal game in the first quarter into a three-goal advantage after the first quarter. Joseph Doyle scored three of the Ravens six first-quarter goals while assisting on a fourth.
Five straight goals from the Ravens to open the second quarter broke the game open and pushed the Ravens to an 11-4 lead at halftime. The Ravens scored five goals in the second half while limiting the Statesmen to three.
Doyle finished with 4 goals and 3 assists. Michael Hogan added 4 goals and 1 assist while Sean Molyneux added 3 goals and 2 assists. Brady Guck and James Carson added 2 goals each while Jordan Rodriguez scored 1 goal.
Defensively, Duncan Loud finished with 7 saves in goal to earn the win. Joseph Bianchi won 17 of 27 faceoffs and led the team with 7 ground balls. Doyle added 6 ground balls to round out the defensive efforts.
The Ravens return home on March 25 to host No. 3 St. Ambrose University at 7 p.m. on Legacy Field.
